Sofie Lee Gill

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we say goodbye to our beloved Sofie Lee-a devoted companion, faithful shadow, and cherished member of our family for over 17 wonderful years.

Sofie, a sweet Shih Tze-Poodle mix, answered to many affectionate nicknames over the years: Shigar, Pilgrim, Sofa Loaf, Goose, Goosie, Puppers, Puppy Sofe, and simply Sofa. No matter what we called her, she answered with love, loyalty, and joy.

She brought light into every room and comfort to every soul who needed her. For Michelle, she was more than a dog-she was a quiet guardian and healing companion through nine challenging years of illness. Sofie always knew when a little extra love was needed, gently following her from room to room, curling up nearby, and offering a calm presence that words couldn’t provide. She never let any family member feel alone.

To the girls, she wasn’t just the family pet-she was like another sister. When Michelle couldn’t be there, Sofie shifted her loyal watch to Gavin or the girls, always making sure someone had her by their side.

Sofie had a playful, sunshine spirit. Whenever she got excited, she’d race outside and spin in wild circles like a little Tasmanian Devil. She loved to find the warmest sliver of sunlight in the house, laying down with her face tilted just right, soaking in the peace and warmth of a good sunbeam. She napped where the light landed, always making it feel like home. She carried joy in her paws and peace in her presence.

One of our favorite memories happened just a few months after we brought her home. We were all playing in the backyard, and in that simple, happy moment, we knew-our family was complete.

Sofie was everything we didn’t know we needed. The perfect dog. The most loving companion. A sweet furry soul who was a source of laughter, comfort, joy, and unwavering love that never fades.

She changed our lives, and her absence will be felt in every corner of our home and hearts. We will miss her deeply. But we take comfort in knowing this goodbye is only for a time. One day, we will be with her again-running, playing, basking in eternal sunlight, side by side.
